The Guardian Reviews Shine

Damien G Walter reviews Shine on The Guardian‘s website:

In recent decades even science fiction, once abundantly optimistic about the future, has been overwhelmed with pessimism. The Shine anthology of optimistic science fiction aims to reverse that trend by bringing together some of the most optimistic visions of our future in one volume. Shine is new writing in the most literal sense, with stories from emerging talents of SF including Alliette de Boddard, Lavie Tidhar and Gareth L Powell.

Just read “The Church of Accelerated Redemption”, it is a great story, recommend everybody get Shine and read it. This has some very good ideas; I would think this universe could be expanded into a great novel. Stephane was a particularly interesting character, love to read more about him.

Thanks Phil, I’m glad you liked it. I’ll pass your comments on to Aliette.

Which bits were yours and which bits were Aliette’s?

We took turns to write and rewrite every scene. I can’t really remember which bits were hers and which were mine. Which I guess is why it hangs together as a story.
