The Today Programme

I spoke to the producer of the Today programme this afternoon. They are sending a car for me at 7.45 tomorrow morning. My segment of the show will be broadcast between 8.40 and 8.50 am GMT – and I’ll be in conversation with acclaimed novelist Liz Williams, talking about the appeal of SF to a female audience. If you miss the show – or can’t receive BBC Radio 4 where you are – you can hear it online using the BBC’s Listen Again service.

BBC Radio 4

I’ve just opened an email from one of the producers of BBC Radio 4′s Today programme, asking if I’ll appear on Saturday morning’s programme to talk about whether science fiction is a purely male preserve. I’ve said yes. Please listen in if you can.

Interview with Jetse de Vries

I came across this interview with Interzone co-editor Jetse de Vries. It gives a glimpse into the editorial process, and some valuable insights into the kinds of stories Jetse and his colleagues are looking for – I suggest you check it out.

When asked which writers and/or stories he is proud to have discovered, Jetse says:

“The Last Reef by Gareth Lyn Powell: I did a rewrite on the original with him, and the end result was all I hoped for (and Gareth was a real pleasure to work with).”
