Eastercon

I spent the last four days at a hotel in Heathrow, attenting this year’s Eastercon, the highlights of which were:

1) The Conflicts anthology launch on Friday evening. This looks like being a very popular book. I have a story in it, and I understand the first print run’s almost sold out already.

2) Meeting Iain M Banks, and sharing a table with him during the book signing session on Saturday.

3) The launch of the Shine anthology on Saturday evening, with wine provided by the editor, Jetse de Vries, and cheese brought from France by my co-writer, Aliette de Bodard. Unfortunately, due to a failure by the courier, there weren’t many copies of the book available to buy at the event, but it’s generated so much interest that I’m sure it will go on to be seen as one of the most significant anthologies of the year.

4) Hanging out in the bar with friends old and new, including writers, publishers, fans, editors and agents. Too many to list here, but if you’re reading this, you know who you are.

Received my copy of Conflicts last week and it looks great (not read any yet). Hopefully receive Shine soon and it is as good as everyone says (mind you, it can’t be bad with one of your stories in it :-)
