‘The Last Reef’ has been recommended for a BFS Award in the short fiction category. The voting by BFS members will be taking place over the next few weeks.

I’m trying something I’ve never tried before – I’m writing a direct sequel to one of my short stories, picking up the characters from the award-winning ‘Sunsets and Hamburgers‘ three years after we last saw them.

The story’s called ‘Movies and Bottled Beer’ and it’s been inspired by Alice Dragoon’s superb reading of ‘Sunsets and Hamburgers’. I listened to it in the car this morning and it’s left me desperately wanting to revisit the characters in order to find out what happens next…

I’m pleased to say that my novelette ‘The Last Reef‘ came in at number 6 in the Interzone Reader’s Poll for best short story of 2006.

The nominations for the British Science Fiction Association Awards have been announced. My novelette ‘The Last Reef‘ was nominated in the Best Short Fiction category – but unfortunately didn’t make the final short list.
